What's it Like Where I Live? Photo Post {Cape Town Girls' Trip} & Putting Family First!

Hello again :)  I know this week has been a bit of a bloggy
write-off but all for a good cause!  Apart from illness running
rife in my household I've had my lovely 19 year old daughter
Chelsea home for the holidays & have enjoyed every minute
with her {not one argument so far and that's a first!}

There she is below with her dad and her little sister Cam.
Kids go back to school tomorrow so I'm hoping that my time
off will come to an end and I can jump back on the
scrappy/bloggy bandwagon before you all forget about me LOL!

She still has one more week with us before heading back to uni
but with the other 3 back at school I'm hoping I can get back
to more of a semblance of normality as far as my blogging &
scrapbooking goes. I have deadlines to meet so I really need to!

Sometimes family does have to come first and I know that you
all understand that :)  Just sharing some BLACKBERRY PHOTOS
with you all of our recent trip away {putting that in capital
letters there as they are not very good quality but soooo much
easier than lugging my DSLR around everywhere!}  I did lug it
about occasionally though of course so I do have more photos
too but haven't edited all those yet :)

Snapped this one of my girls at the airport in Durban,
saying goodbye to their dad, as we were on our way!

Taken by hubby so from a dizzy height as he is 6 foot 5 inches!
Good thing too as shooting high to low is more flattering LOL!!

My daughters arriving at our place of accommodation!
All dressed up for the colder weather there as Cape Town
is around 10 degrees colder than our weather here in Durban.

Boulders Beach where we went on our last day to visit
the penguin colony - soooooo amazing!!

One of the little guys :)  There were dozens and dozens of them!

Cami took this photo of herself - herself!  Good job girl!!

Chelsea standing on the bridge/walkway with the Penguin Colony
all around her - see them all in the background??

Cami with all the cute little creatures behind her :)

I held my phone high above my head for this one!  Pot Luck!!
{Okay to be honest there were quite a few misses too!}

Cape Town is a really beautiful place.  One of the most beautiful
cities in the world.  Of course still tarnished with squatter
camps, etc but if you can only visit one place in South Africa I
would recommend Cape Town.  Weather is very European & not
tropical like here so we found it cold and it is almost always
very windy!

It is a lot bigger and more eclectic than Durban, with some
lovely old "heritage" architecture that I enjoyed very much.

Love this arty shot of my 2 girls walking down the road
with a massive sunflare through the palm leaves...

Visiting my sister Lulu who is in a home for disabled people.

My girls with their Grandad - who soooo enjoyed spending
some time with them as we last saw each other 3 years ago.

Arriving back at King Shaka airport.  I'm always happy to
be home!  I love stepping off the plane and feeling the warm,
humid air - something that foreigners hate as it is hot and
sticky but you get used to it & as it is Winter here it's lovely
whereas Summer is intolerably hot for me.

Hope you enjoyed a peek into my African life :)

Thank you for sharing. I enjoyed seeing a little bit of your area. I live in Wisconsin, on the border to MN. So, I am literally minutes from the Twin Cities, MN. The MN Zoo built a new exhibit at the zoo, an African Penguin exhibit, sponsored by 3M. http://mnzoo.org/animals/animals_penguin.asp It is really fun to get to see them. I think they are so neat!! :)

Looks like a great trip! Glad you had a nice time. Thanks for sharing all the photos. It's interesting to get a little peek into Cape Town. I must confess that I loved all the penguin photos, as penguins are one of my favorite animals. At Christmastime I decorate my house with penguins. (But they're nice to look at any time of year.) :)

Some of my fave photos were taken on my phone..if you are too busy fiddling with your camera, you just miss out on moments right? Love your family pics... Looks like a beautiful place to visit! :)

Fabulous photos, loved seeing everything through your lens. I think Cape Town is the best place in the world to live but will accept I am a trifle biased. It has been so cold here since you left, think you must have taken the last of the warm days with you.

LOVED seeing all the piccies from your trip, so happy Lulu enjoyed meeting you guys not forgetting seeing grand dad. Gosh, 3 years since you met him! Must have been awesome being so close to the penguins, amazing animals. Was thinking only this morning what the word "home" means to each and one of us, to you the hot and humid air stepping of the plane gives you a sense of belonging. To me it's the scent of pine needles, sweet green leaves and the special scent of the bracken water that encompasses my home town, cinnamon rolls and freshly mowed green luscious grass. Ahhh, home really is where one's heart is! xoxo

I went to Cape Town on my honeymoon. Did I ever tell you that? Loved it. Visited those penguins too.
